Check Check 1-2-3

Doing audio this week was a real eye opener as to how time consuming audio can be to complete well.  I really enjoyed learning to layer sound with Audacity and while I don’t think I have a complete knowledge of Audacity by any means I am more confident in my ability to use it.  I’m sure there is a much more user friendly audio editing software that I would use if I worked with audio more often. Listening to Ira Glass talk about how much effort and practice it takes to get really good at audio storytelling, makes me realize that when the effort is put in it is possible to get good at storytelling with audio.  I was also reminded very quickly about how much I hate hearing my own voice recorded, and then I chose assignments that didn’t require me to record my own voice.  I think audio storytelling can be utilized very effectively, however I don’t know if it will remain on the radio or if it will slowly but surely change over to podcasts.  Overall I liked audio more than I thought I would but I still prefer working with visuals and design.

I was also very surprised by how long working with audio can take! I also do not enjoy listened to recordings of myself, so I, too, opted for alternative tasks. I’m glad I’m not the only one who found audio to be challenging and prefers design and visual! Great job on your assignments though!
